WHO WE ARE
We are a group of professors, scientists, doctors, nutritionists and concerned members of the public who want to see people properly informed and protected with vitamin C and other immune defence nutrients and foods. Our mission is to achieve the stated aims of the petition and thereby protect people, not only from COVID-19 but also from other viral infections.

Patrick Holford – Director
Volunteer
Patrick Holford, BSc, DipION, FBANT, NTCRP, is a leading spokesman on nutrition and mental health and founder of both the Food for the Brain Foundation and the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, an educational charity that offers degree accredited training in nutritional therapy. He was a student of the twice Nobel Prize winner Dr Linus Pauling, who put vitamin C on the map in the 70’s. Pauling was the patron of ION. Originally trained in psychology. Patrick was involved in groundbreaking research showing that multivitamins can increase children’s IQ scores – the subject of a Horizon television documentary in the 1980s. He was one of the first promoters of the importance of zinc, essential fats, low-GL diets and homocysteine-lowering B vitamins and their importance in mental health and Alzheimer’s prevention, working closely with David Smith, Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Oxford.
He is author of 45 books translated into over 30 languages, including Flu Fighters, now translated into French, Italian and Chinese. He is a retired visiting professor at the University of Teesside and is in the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame with his mentors Drs Linus Pauling and Abram Hoffer. Rebecca Pilkington

Rebecca, BA, Dip CNM, BANT, CNHC is a qualified Nutritional Therapist and Functional Medicine practitioner. She is passionate about the topic of public health and works to inspire others to improve their own wellbeing, energy, performance and resilience. Rebecca is also a public speaker on a variety of health topics. Prior to becoming a qualified Nutritional therapist Rebecca worked in the Financial Services sector in project management and specialises in start up projects designed to change the paradigm.
Robert Verkerk
Campaign Advisor – Volunteer
Rob Verkerk BSc MSc DIC PhD FACN is a sustainability scientist, researcher and campaigner with nearly 40 years of experience in the non-profit sector, academia and as a consultant. His extensive academic background in ecology and sustainable agriculture, including an MSc, PhD and postdoctoral fellowship at Imperial College London, helped him develop his passion for applying ecological and sustainability principles to healthcare.
In 2002, Dr Verkerk founded the Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) International and has acted as its executive and scientific director since. He has directed legal actions to protect the right to natural health, been at the forefront of developing science-based approaches to evaluating risks and benefits of natural therapies, and has been the principal scientist developing a new model for proactive, health regeneration and health system sustainability.
Since March 2020, Dr Verkerk and his team at ANH have been heavily involved with the covid-19 pandemic, evaluating science, policies and multi-disciplinary strategies that aim to facilitate a return to normal societal function with minimum collateral damage. Critical to this is ongoing research, education and campaigns focusing on building multi-system resilience, including the use of healthy dietary, lifestyles and targeted supplements.
Dr Verkerk has authored some 60 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings, is a fellow of the American College of Nutrition and a scientific advisor to the UK-based integrative cancer charity, Yes to Life.
Chantal Cooke
PR and Social Media Manager
Chantal Cooke is an award-winning journalist/broadcaster, co-founder of the UK’s first ethical radio station PASSION for the PLANET, and founder of boutique PR agency Panpathic Communications Ltd.
Chantal has worked as journalist / presenter for the BBC, commercial radio, national newspapers and magazines for over 25 years. Focusing on health and environmental issues, she has helped to spread the word about natural approaches to health and the benefits of following a balanced, plant-based diet.
In 2002 she co-founded PASSION for the PLANET, which broadcast on DAB and via the Internet, broke the mould for specialist-interest radio stations, picked up a number of awards and attracted an audience of over 100k.
As founder of Panpathic Communications Chantal and her team help smaller organisations punch above their weight with PR, generating scores of pieces of quality coverage for their clients every month. She is also author of “PR Demystified – how to get free publicity by giving journalists what they really need”.
Chantal believes wholeheartedly in vitamin C, supplementing it every day, and knows how important it is to get this message across and help others look after their health.
Andrew Thomas
Special Projects & Donations – Volunteer
Andrew comes from a financial background having started his career within The Barclays Group where he held several senior management positions and gained over twenty years experience in Retail, corporate banking, intermediary business and high net worth complex lending. He went on to form his own specialist property finance and acquisition company. He is a senior partner at Adoreum Partners a London based network and consultancy business.
His innate ability to proactively problem solve and approach deals from new and creative perspectives has led to high demand for his skills. A key element of his success lies in his unprecedented networking capabilities and connections around the world.
Andrew is a key adviser to The University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Mellon Educate – a charity based in South Africa and aims to improve the lives of those living in townships by providing quality housing and education. For the past 20 years Andrew has had a passion for nutrition & preventative health and is honoured to have the opportunity to work with Patrick Holford and the team on this important project.
Gabrielle Holford
Treasurer – Volunteer
Gabrielle is in charge of recording and keeping costs to a minimum and recording all donations and providing receipts as required. She reports quarterly.
